BEHIND THE SIDELINE
BEHIND THE SIDELINE
The Sideline Snapshot
The Sideline Snapshot started with a simple idea:
Boston women’s sports deserved a place of their own.
There were games being played, seasons unfolding, new teams taking shape, and stories worth following but... no single place where fans could go to keep up with all of it. If you missed a game, wanted to know what was coming up next, or simply wanted to stay connected to Boston’s growing women’s sports scene, you had to piece it together yourself.
The idea was to create the kind of place we wished existed—somewhere that made following women’s sports easy, exciting, and accessible. A place for game recaps, upcoming schedules, news, conversations, and everything happening beyond the final score.
What began as an idea to fill that gap would eventually grow into something much bigger.
And somewhere along the way, it became ours.
AL and Kevin’s paths first crossed around Boston Fleet games, with AL behind the camera and Kevin working A/V for the team. As the season went on, quick conversations around the rink grew into longer ones about women’s sports, the athletes at the center of it, and the stories they felt were still being missed.
Eventually, AL asked Kevin to join The Sideline Snapshot as a co-host. What started as conversations about where women’s sports were headed began to shape where The Sideline Snapshot could go next.
Somewhere along the way, it became something we were building together.
Today, The Sideline Snapshot is growing into a full media brand covering Boston’s six women’s pro teams — the Banshees, Common, Fleet, Guard, Hunters, and Legacy FC — through a podcast, YouTube, photography, and a Discord community, all rooted in the original idea: giving these teams the in-depth coverage they’ve earned and giving fans one place to find it.
And we’re just getting started.
AL - Creator & Host
Boston born and raised, I’ve taken a less than traditional path to the sidelines. I’m an Army veteran, former collegiate soccer player and coach who spent years working in environmental health and safety before turning a lifelong connection to sports and photography into something more.
As a queer photographer and storyteller, I’m drawn to the people and moments that make sports bigger than the game itself. My work is rooted in capturing what it feels like to be there the emotion, community, and stories that deserve to be remembered.
What started with a camera and a love of sports has grown into opportunities I never could have mapped out for myself. The Sideline Snapshot feels like the next chapter of that journey, a chance to keep creating, keep telling stories, and document women’s sports during a time when so much of its history is still being written. And for me, there’s something pretty special about getting to grow alongside it.
Kevin - Co-Host
Sports have been in my blood since I was a kid. Hockey, swimming, lacrosse, baseball, I played sports in every season growing up.
My background is in audio engineering, and I've spent years working A/V - running cameras and sound at the Tsongas Center, on UMass Lowell's Men's Hockey and Men's and Women's Basketball broadcasts, and last year with the Fleet. I also worked with AL on a Pride video and game content for the Banshees this season. Outside of my work, I front a band called SleepJumper, and I'm a die-hard Anaheim Ducks fan from childhood.
My wife and I have been to nearly every Fleet game since the PWHL kicked off, and that front-row view of what these teams and their fans deserve is exactly why this project exists.
When AL brought me in on their original idea to help build content for Boston's women's pro teams, I gladly said yes! Between the Banshees, Fleet, Guard, Hunters, and Legacy FC, we noticed how hard it was to keep up with each team and there wasn't one place for fans to actually come together. That's the gap we're trying to fill.
